You can take it for up to a full stomach. However, it may take less time for the stomach to heal than the rest of the body. It helps to have more acid in the stomach and so helps to prevent GERD.

If you have an upset stomach, taking it with antacid may take less time to heal than taking it at the same time(s).. This is because antacid is meant to take a dose at a time. Taking it twice a day would normally make a difference in how long it will take to heal your problem. However, you can decrease the time it takes to heal by taking it with food. But, you must not exceed one dose per day.

WarningsDo not take this medicine if you are allergic to esomeprazole or lansoprazole. Ask your pharmacist about this at a different pharmacy. Do not take this medicine with other medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). These include
PPIs (such as omeprazole, esomeprazole, lansoprazole) and
indigestion medications such as indomethacin. PPIs are not recommended for use during heartburn treatment due to the risk of stomach irritation. PPIs can irritate the stomach. Do not take this medicine with antacids and other antacids containing magnesium, or with aluminum hydroxide. Ask your health care provider if this is a medicine. Taking it with food can make a difference in how long it takes to heal your problem.
Do not give this medicine to anyone less than 18 years of age or with symptoms of heartburn.
